Anonymous, 14 hours agoSnapdragon 750G is far from mediocre. It’s still plenty powerful for most people. It’s fine but when the Fairphone 4 released it was already a year old. But that wasn’t my main complaint, there were better chips out there already but it’s serviceable. The issue is with the terrible design, software aswell as the mediocre cameras. On release there were plenty of options half the price that end up being a better choice, at that point reparability becomes an afterthought when you could just replace it and still be off cheaper in the end. It’s just a very meh phone, which holds it back a lot. You want a phone you can repair yourself? You can have it, at a way higher starting cost and with specs that won’t blow you away in any regard.

They are usually devoid of any features and it’s up to you to add anything functional to them. So much they often have less features and functions than the original ROM that came with phone. They are based on newer Android tho which factory ROM usually isn’t given how bad software support generally is on Android phones.

LOL, thanks, but no, thanks. They even insulted us with the typical bullshit explanation you can expect from Apple of Samsung – “We decided to ditch it because it may break”. Yea, and using a type-c adapter won’t break your usb port…

Its probably the hardware limitations, just think about a phone, released 5 years ago, still being updated with os and security updates. Those recent updates will need more resources, as every new update will. A 5 year old chipset will not be able to handle it, as well as the battery. Besides, a phone you bought 5 years ago will also have an outdated design, cameras etc.
T
They pumping more money in PR than in R&D, two words should scare off anyone who is still capable of logic – FAIR (cheapest PR trick in history of mobile market) and sustainability… Not to talk about incredible level of ugliness and awkwardness in design of poor thing! Probably that is the reason why no one (seriously) no one is care – besides payed PR articles writers, obviously… 😉
U
If they made it available for global market, I’d definitely get one in a flash.

I wonder if the final update will shrink those horrendous bezels.

kek, 14 hours agoiPhone 6s is an exception. iPhone 7 was just dropped recently no questions asked.Same 5 Major OS updates and still gets security patches, contrary to the Fairphone. Also, the original statement was „longer than Apple“ which implies it‘s longer supported than any iPhone, which is not true.

Fairphone is only a small company and has a only small team of people who work on software only for their phones, now Fairphone 3, 3+ and 4. They do very well in supporting phones for that long. Besides of that they don’t release a new phone that often to reduce e-waste and make people keep their phone for longer. Some spare parts for the Fairphone 2 are still available on their website.
