JVC GZ-MG130 HDD video camcorder is poor because it does not have a mic out
and it is poor in ok lighting. The reason why I bought this video camcorder because I did not to buy no more tape to on recoded. Bad misstate if the camcorder die your video goes with it. I will not recommended this video camcorder to any semi pro videographer or someone is serious about their video production.

forget about editing also
This type of camera records directly in MPEG2 format, which will be a problem to edit. They are basically only point/shoot/playback cameras.
If you are serious about video, stick with tape. There are tapeless formats available (eg XDCAM) but these are pro formats, and the cams to support these are rather expensive.
