Javascript

Rob talked me in to it. He wanted to learn about javascript and called me out on the podcast to cover it. Talk about a daunting challenge. To share about javascript, give something practical for listeners, and do it without any visual aids. That's just what we did.

This week on the podcast we cover javascript, javascript libraries, the pains of javascript, some practical needs to know, and so much more. Javascript, AJAX, and AHAH technologies and methods are revolutionizing the Internet and the browser; so, it's important to know and utilize.

Before we dive into javascript we talk about the high expectations in church media. What are the expectations of viewers of your media? What are the expectations of church leaders in their media people? What has media saturation done to sharing the greatest message ever?

Come take a listen.... it's Geeks and God!!!

Cascading Style Sheets

We've talked about CSS. We've said time and time again it's the tool to use for building your websites design. We use it to do all our designs. It's what you need to build sites in drupal or the other top content management systems. In this episode we talk about CSS, what the acronym means, what the different parts are, the box model, and try our darnedest to explain what it does and how you can use it.

For some people CSS can create problems. Especailly, when you deal with multiple browsers and some (... IE ...) don't do CSS quite right and are different from version to version. So, if you have questions head over to our forums and ask away.

Before we dive into our main topic, we talk about apologetics. Apologetics is the geekiest area of theological study and we not only share some of our experience but give out some resources for others.

So, come join us... it's time for Geeks and God....

Building Accessible Websites

This week we're all over accessible websites. You might be asking yourself, "Why should I build those extra accessibility features into my church or ministry website?" If you are, we have an answer for you and we dig into the bible for our reason. That's right... biblical support for accessible websites.

At the same time, building accessible websites doesn't mean doing much more than following the standards we talked about last week. Using xhtml and css is the first step to building accessible sites.

But, before we dive into building websites we talk about using and being apart of internet communities. The good, the bad, and the ugly. There are some great advantages to being part of an online community and yet there are some drawbacks worth taking into careful consideration.

So, please join us for a hoot of a time on the Geeks and God podcast....

Web Standards

Welcome to the wonderful world of Web Standards. That wonderful place that non-conformists run from, but that has a benefit to every church and ministry website. If your one of the people who think web standards don't matter to you or that being standards compliant won't make a difference this is the episode for you. On the plus side you'll walk understanding why the buzz words xhtml, CSS, and Javascript are important and some of what they actually buy you.

Before we dive into we standards, we talk about those times when you wouldn't use an open source solution. Does this mean it's time to buy Microsoft products? We'll let you know on this episode of the podcast.
