Our church

At our church we use programs that have built-in secuity requiring passwords to do anything. We have one for the kids records at the daycare we run and we have another for family and giving records. We use an ancient program (by computer standards) from Parson's Technology "back in the day" called Membership Plus. It works but I wish we could get a more modern system.

Also, the daycare office will only allow login to Windows by password. The church office is used by too many people to lock it at that level. I'm sure Membership Plus is not un-hackable as nothing is, but it's certainly harder to crack than the value of the contents. We do not have any credit card info or such, just contact info and giving record.

Excellent point though. What a huge gaping hole that could be for some.
