So I am about make our church's welcome page user-customizable. Ignoring all the details of how I THINK I am going to pull this off, I have one question to throw out to the group.

The "customizable" part I have planned is that the user can pick from a large selection of widgits (all church website or denomination related) to be placed on their customized welcome page. ok fine.

What about the idea of allowing them to place their own widgits? For instance, what if someone wanted to setup the church site so that it also contained their google calendar? or gmail? or a the latest blog that they follow?

My technical side of my brain thinks this is cool. My nontechnical side (which is very small) thinks that this could be bad because I really wouldn't have control over what widgit they post. So what you say? Well, my concern is that the church website must represent Christ as much as possible. Put another way, the church website can NOT represent something that goes against Christianity. And even though it would be on their own PC, I really don't want someone putting anti-Christian widgits on the page.

So my real question is this - Am I being too paranoid about what people might do with that kind of power or is better to play it extra extra safe?
