Online Discussion-Based Bible Study

I'd like to start a Bible Study on our church website. It would be easy enough to begin this using an Organic Group in Drupal, so the logistics are easy. What I'm more looking for is some kind of curriculum (nothing copyrighted, since it'll be posted publicly) or, more likely, some suggestions and thoughts as to how to stimulate conversation as I put something together, essentially creating a study as we go. I figure I can post something to start, then people can use comments to discuss.

The goal is to have people in the Word together on an ongoing basis instead of just once or twice/week.

Anyone ever tried this? What worked (i.e. what stimulated conversation)? Any caveats?

All suggestions welcome.

My thoughts...

I thought about this a while back. My suggestion would just be to use either a topical study, or a "read through the bible" plan, use RefTagger to link to the scripture, and just write your thoughts on it, like a simple blog. Maybe you can get several "leaders" who will take particular days of the week, so it's not always you having to start the conversation.

I do this privately with my accountability group. I basically blog about my devotionals and bible reading, and my group occasionally posts about it, some more than others.

I'd love to do a group study this way, as well.

Good idea. Yeah, a simple

Good idea. Yeah, a simple Bible Reading plan would allow me to do commentary & encourage discussion, and I wouldn't have to keep finding something new. It would encourage me to dig deeper into the Scriptures myself and research background info. It just seems so obvious, now that you put it that way.
