I'm not sure why it would be happening. We are using the same player. I wonder if it's a config option on the player or if we have a version with an issue.
This has nothing to do with drupal btw. It's about the file reading from the file system to the flash player in an html page. The memory issue is on the browser side where the flash is active.
hrm...
Just a hunch, but I think it has something to do with the download progress display.
On G&G, the download progress color bar almost immediately reaches the end of the bar. So, it seems the player is continuously updating the total play length as the file is downloaded.
On Lullabot, the download progress color bar behaves as expected.
Hope I explained that properly.
Does anyone else have performance problems when playing the Geeks&God podcasts?
My CPU usage soars to 100% and my computer becomes sluggish when playing and downloading the podcast. The audio sounds fine the whole time.
Once it is done downloading (still playing)CPU usage goes WAY down.
So, essentially, performance is horrible while the podcast file is being downloaded.
This is with FireFox & IE7/8.
Lullabot uses the same player and I have no issues with them (performance is normal).
This has been going on ever since I started visiting G&G (about 6mo - 1 year ago).
