While I've not overly utilised it as yet, because our church doesn't record any bible study evening discussions, the component is excellent in the way it's set up, and in how you can incorporate so many different facilities, e.g. mp3's, different teachers, bible books, series, message types etc. It thus provides a huge amount of organisational structure for all needs. Definitely one of the best around!!
I have been playing with Joomla a bit now. The admin area is a little strange to work in, but growing on me. Right away what I liked about it was how a lot of functionality comes with it's core. Browsing the joomla site extensions is easy and love the rating systems for modules or um extensions I guess they are called. So far it's been a fun experience and one that I think will continue.
I'm in the process of switching us over to the Podcast Suite. Hm...just realized why the last few posts I made never showed up. I fergot about the captcha.
Anyway, Podcast Suite moves away from php file uploads to regular FTP, then you build the podcast page around it, and it builds the iTunes feed dynamically. Let you know in a few weeks if I still like it.
I know this is a REALLY late post but PReachIt is the best sermon/podcasting solution for Joomla.
I just wanted to share my new favorite component, Bible Study. It makes finding a sermon topic easy and intuitive.
The only downside is that there is not a search module for the Joomla site search, but it makes up for this by finding a sermon much easier by having pull down filters for Speaker, series, Bible verse, and many more. It also generates a true XML file for the podcast and works great with Feedburner or whatever Google calls it now.
