I've found a bug(?) in the Date module that I've gotten very little feedback on from the module issues queue. Sorry for the long post, but this has been getting frustrating for me.

In short, the issue is that while repeating dates and multiple dates might seem conceptually very similar, they don't seem to work the same in views. I'm trying to create an "Upcoming Events" block. I'd like to be able to include repeating events but only show the next instance of any repeating events in the view. At first the "Group Multiple Values" checkbox in the view config seemed like exactly what I needed. But it appears that the Date module does not look at individual occurrences of repeating dates when processing this setting. The end result is that the view always shows the original date for a repeating event in my "Upcoming Events" block, regardless of any date filters in the view. Presumably, it would work as expected with multiple date fields, but I haven't had a chance to confirm.

I've posted a descrption here. Originally, I posted it as a bug, but after understanding what's going on a little better, I changed it to a feature request. I've offered to take the plunge into the world of module development if I could get some assurance that handling repeating dates like multiple dates is consistent with how the date module is supposed to work. Only one person has commented on my feature request I and don't have a high confidence level that any patches would ultimately get rolled into the module.

Could some kind soul take a look at my post to the Date issue? It would be great to get some feedback on this, even if it's some guidance on how I might approach the open source community better in general.
