Is there a free hosting service that would allow me to store additional sermon audio and play from my site. I'm guessing that anything free would be add supported and thus not appropriate for a church site. Any thoughts?

You might want to check out the Archive.org file uploader, where you can upload audio/video you have permission to upload for free. I use this for The King's Church Portsmouth Sermons, which is also hosted for free, on Wordpress.
Amazon S3
Amazon has this service called S3 that you can use to hosting files on. It is not free but is very very cheap. It only costs like $0.15 per GB of storage you use and $0.17 per GB of data downloaded and you only pay for what you use. There is no limit on storage or bandwidth. You can get more info here
