Editing User permissions issue

When I try to edit User permissions so someone can be an admin, I get an error message saying "username has an account type which is incompatible with the selected role and was not updated."

He is a registered and active user.

Ideas?

A couple questions

I have a couple questions for ya. Lets drill into this problem.

  1. What contributed modules do you have installed and what version of them? (were any HEAD, beta, or dev versions?)
  2. Is the error you provided a copy and paste of the error message?

MF's Questions Answered

1. I have the following modules installed, not sure if any were dev ones; accounttypes, audio, bbcode, ecommerce, event, image, postcard, scripturefilter, views, and widgeditor.

2.I went in to Roles and added one called "Admin" and in User permissions I set it to basically do have full control. I then go to user management and click next to the username I want to be an admin then in the update options section I choose "Add role to the Selected Users" and select admin. When I do this, I get an error message in red at the top of the page which says,

"username has an account type which is incompatible with the selected role and was not updated.

No valid users were selected for that change. Their account type prevents them from receiving that role. Please try again."

Thanks for all the great shows and for trying to help me figure this out!

I got it!

I got it!
I disabled accouttypes module and it worked. Silly me installing modules before I am sure I want/need them. Thanks!
